Said Dad I'm Gonna Be Like You

"$#*! My Dad Says" is, according to the commercials, the #1 new comedy of the season. That may SOUND surprising, but think about the statement. "#1 New Comedy" is one heck of a qualifier. What is the competition? "Mike and Molly", "Outsourced", "Running Wilde" and "Raising Hope". ... that's it. Heck, forget being the #1 new comedy, if "$#*!" makes it to a second season it'll probably be the only one.

The thing that annoys me the most is the name. Because everyone who says it has to say "'Bleep' My Dad Says" and it makes them sound like idiots. Just say the curse word, pay the FCC fine, be grown ups about it. Because this is embarrassing. And they didn't just chance upon that name. They had meetings about that name. Meetings and test groups and more meetings to decide that "'Bleep' My Dad Says" was a better name than "Things My Dad Says", "My Dad Says...", "What My Dad Says", or even "Dad Really Should Have Been Put In An Assisted Living Home After Mom Died Because He Has Been Behaving More and More Erratically and SERIOUSLY Are There TWO Former Cast Members of MadTV On This Show? How Was THAT Allowed?"

On an only semi-related note, last week our local NBC station was having technical difficulties with the feed and had to run an extra block of commercials instead of "Outsourced". I had never heard of a show being cancelled mid-episode, but for a moment there was that glimmer of hope.
